James "Rabbit" Barefield

James “Rabbit” Barefield departed this life on Thursday, September 5, 2024 in Houston, Texas. He was born on December 7, 1963 to Betty Jo Barefield and Kay Morgan Williams. James Barefield attended school in Port Lavaca Texas. Where he was known for being an outstanding athlete. He also attended job corps where he obtained his certification in welding. Sports, Good Times, and Sanford and Son were his favorite shows to watch. He touched the lives of many with his kindness, compassion, and sense of humor. James Barefield will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is survived by his children Shermane (Bryan) Thibodeaux, Zechary Wilson, and Desaray Wilson. Nine grand-children, Two great-grand-children, His Aunt Mary Drake, and Uncle Albert Barefield, several cousins, friends and extended family members who will continue to cherish the memories of his love, wisdom, and enduring spirit. In this time of sorrow, we gather to celebrate his life and remember the joy he brought to those around him.
