Edwin Gene Raglin was born March 2, 1943 to Willie Franklin Raglin Sr. and Robbie Birdwell Raglin
in Richards,Texas. He grew up working on his parent’s dairy farm. he graduated from
W.E. Hall High School in 1960. He was Salutatorian of his class and later became one of the
founder’s for Richards and W.E. Hall Alumni Association. This organization was near and dear to his
heart. This organization provided several scholarships for upcoming high school graduates and a
chance for him to go back home to fellowship with his beloved classmates, family, and friends.
Edwin Gene moved to Houston, Texas in 1960.
On May 2,1964 he married his childhood sweetheart and the love of his life Ebbie Menifee.
He also began his career as a Machinist. He worked for major corporations such as Hughes Tools,
FMC, and Baker hughes. edwin gene retired from Baker Hughes in 2009.
In 1982 his life began to shift with the arrival of his first grandchild, edwin gene began to turn his
life over to God. he began attending church at Second Corinth Missionary Baptist Church and
eventually became a Sunday School teacher. He knew the bible inside and out. He later joined Mount
Olive Baptist Church. edwin gene had a deep love, admiration, and connection for God.
Edwin Gene had a big heart and a strong desire to bring people together especially family. This
desire grew even stronger when he and his granddaughter’s attended the Ragland/Raglin Family
Reunion in Mississippi in 2018. He returned to Houston fired up and ready to give our family the
party of a lifetime. In 2022 he was given the opportunity to spearhead the Ragland/ Raglin Family
Reunion in Houston, Texas. The event brought family and friends from all over the United States and
was a huge success!
He is preceded in death by Willie Franklin Raglin Sr. (father), Robbie Birdwell Raglin (mother), Jim
Raglin (brother) Wille Franklin Raglin Jr. (brother)(Velma) and Ruby Staton (sister).
He leaves a cherished memory to his loving wife ebbie menifee raglin children Kenneth Lee Raglin Sr.
(Cemone), Corwin Gay (Tanya), The Twins (Sheryl Raglin and Cheryl Raglin), and Jermaine Pickens.
His siblings Nathaniel Raglin (Willie), Edgar Raglin (Brenda), Naomi Witchet, Juanita Tomas (Harold)
and Pearlie Love, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, relatives, and
friends. his love and laughter will truly be missed!
